Saturday Art Club returns for a Mela takeover! Working with Artist Facilitator Rehneesa Inez, this drop-in workshop will guide young ones (and their grown-ups) to have some quality time creating and learning together, inspired by South Asian culture.

Participants will be introduced to South Asian Truck Art and the bold colours, patterns and motifs that make the art form so distinctive. it Is especially common in Pakistan and India and traditionally used to decorate trucks and other vehicles. Truck Art often features floral designs, geometric patterns, animals, landscapes and decorative lettering.

Participants will create their own Truck Art-inspired hanging decoration using a truck-shaped template, adding their own colours, patterns and details to make each piece unique.

Rehneesa is a British Pakistani artist and creative practitioner whose work is inspired by Pakistani art, heritage and traditional decorative forms. Through her creative practice, she delivers workshops to bring South Asian cultural art forms into accessible, hands-on activities that encourage people to experiment, create and connect with heritage.
