Launch Party: Familiar Strangers by Rastarella Falade

You’re warmly invited to celebrate the launch of Familiar Strangers, a photographic exhibition capturing Hyson Green’s enduring spirit through the faces and stories of people deeply connected to the area.

For decades, Hyson Green has been a vibrant meeting point of cultures, shaped by resilience, migration and multiculturalism. The exhibition particularly acknowledges the lasting contribution of the Jamaican community, whose presence has helped shape the area’s cultural identity across generations.

Spanning the early 1960s to the present day, these portraits form a powerful visual archive of continuity, identity, legacy and collective belonging.
